Verify
Check the download before you flash it.
Download SHA256SUMS-v4.1.txt from the release into the same folder as the ISO. A matching checksum means the file arrived intact.

Install
From ISO to a system you can roll back.
- 01
Write it to a USB stick
Use Ventoy, Rufus, balenaEtcher or dd on a drive of 4 GB or more. Ventoy lets you keep several ISOs on one stick.
- 02
Boot from the USB
Open your firmware's boot menu (usually F12, F11, Esc or F2) and pick the USB drive. The live session starts the installer for you.
- 03
Follow the installer
Network, your account, desktop, GPU driver, apps and disk. Use the whole disk or an existing partition, and edit partitions without leaving the installer.
- 04
Update, and roll back if needed
Run sudo abora update to stay current. If an update misbehaves, abora rollback returns you to the previous system.

Update an existing Abora
On Everest 4.0, run sudo abora update to move to Horizon. Keep a backup, as with any major update.
Edge builds
Edge follows the edge branch on the way to v4.2 Solstice, an overhaul of the codebase. There is no Edge ISO right now; build one from source with make iso.
Older releases
Everest, Denali and every earlier build are kept on the archive page. Older releases do not get fixes.
Abora LTS
One ISO, two roles. Coming later.
Abora LTS has no release date yet and is targeting around v5. The plan is a single image where you choose Server or Workstation during setup.
LTS Server
Infrastructure, admin access and managed system work. Minimal desktop footprint.
LTS Workstation
Managed desktop installs. Same LTS base, full desktop environment.
